I know that life is a little topsy turvy right now and one thing that is getting me through are my essential oils. It might sound woo woo but I am using my essential oils to make cleaning products, diffuse to elevate my moods and on my body for calm, sleep and to ward off headaches. Heck I even tried to make hand sanitiser!
Sharing what works for me
With this in mind I want to help you to thrive while we are all at home so here's my top 5 Ways to Use Essential Oils in Your Home.
1. Easy Low Tox Clean
To de-grease your microwave and leave it smelling divine combine water and a few drops of Lemon oil in a bowl, place into microwave and heat for 4 minutes. When the timer goes off leave the door closed for ten mintes, then wipe out the inside of microwave.
Want to do your sinks? Fill a glass container (approx 1 cup) with bi carb, add 2 tablespoons of Castille soap, 5 drops of peppermimt oil, 5 drops of lemon oil and mix. I use this to keep my stainless steel sink clean and it's also great on the bathroom tiles. If you just want to use this mix on tiles then add clove oil to keep mould at bay.
I make this bench cleaning spray for friends and family, 5 drops each of clove, tea tree and peppermint oil, 1/4 cup castille soap and distilled (or cooled boiled) water in a spray bottle.
Peppermint oil mixed with a little fractioned Coconut oil rubbed into your temples, neck & shoulders for natural headache relief. Even better mix up into a rollerball for take on the go relief.
3. Linen refresh
While you are all madly cleaning out cupboards how about making a fragrant addition to your linen cupboard. A few drops iof essential oil on a cotton wool ball placed in your linen cupboard will keep everything smelling fresh.
4. Sleep Well
Lavender oil on the soles of your feet or on your pillow will give you the sweetest night’s sleep. I swear by this one! I also keep a diffuser on my bedside table and make calming blends to diffuse.
5.Elevate Your Mood
Diffusing essential oils in your home is the best way to elevate your mood, whether you need reassurance, calm or a lift you can create an essential oil mix to assist. Ditch the reed diffusers, plug in smelly crap and use pure essential oils instead. You can also make a room spray by adding distilled water and a touch of witch hazel to your oils.
